Private Thomas Muir (Service no: 3679) was born in Mount Kembla several years after his family had settled in the area in 1887. Both his father and older brother died in the Mount Kembla mine disaster of 1902.

Prior to enlisting Thomas spent 18 months in the Citizen Military Forces. Thomas enlisted in the AIF and sailed with the 10th Reinforcements 56th Battalion on HMAT A14 Euripides on 31st October, 1917. He served on the Western Front and does not seem to have been wounded.

He returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 18th September, 1919.

Thomas died in Paddington in 1955. There is no record of him marrying.
