Charles Arthur Leonard Wilson
Charles Wilson (service no. 2745) was born in Mount Kembla. He was described as a horse breaker.
After leaving school he enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 30th October, 1913, one of the Navy's first members. He was posted to HMAS Encounter as an Officers Steward but the Navy was not for him and he was discharged a few months later.
In October 1914 he enlisted in the AIF and embarked on HMAT A35 Berrima on 21st December, 1914. He served on Gallipoli and the Western Front. He was a driver with Army Service Corps and was lucky to come through the war uninjured.
Charles returned to Australia and was discharged from the AIF on 6th March, 1919.
