William Morgan (Service no. 19968) was born in Helensburgh, N.S.W. on June 4, 1899. He was an 18 year old wireless operator and single at the time of enlistment.

He embarked on SS Canberra on November 16, 1917 with reinforcements for Signal Troop. He was taken on strength of 4th Signal Troop, 4th Light Horse and served in the Middle East as a signalman.

Private Morgan returned to Australia in July, 1919 and was discharged from the AIF. On March 16, 1927 he married Louisa Froehlich.

His brother David was killed in action in France.
