Dora Eleanor Warrington
Staff Nurse Dora Warrington was born in Dapto, N.S.W. circa 1891. She attended Unanderra Public School and afterward she trained as a nurse. When she enlisted she was 26 years old. She embarked on SS Wyreema on 14th October, 1918, but the war ended and the ship was turned back to Australia from South Africa.
Dora was discharged on 30th June, 1919. She spent 12 months at the Randwick Military Hospital in 1920. She married James Maxwell in 1923. He died in Perth in 1933. After her husband's death Dora travelled to England and worked there.
Nurse Warrington saw service in World War II with the Queen Alexandria Nursing Service and returned to Australia in 1952. She died in 1979.
Dora Warrington's service is commemorated on the Unanderra Public School Roll of Honour.
