Charles Frederick Roy Fell
Private Charles Fell (Service no. 2161) was born on 6th September, 1891 and attended Keiraville Public School, N.S.W. He was a single 23 year old working as a carter when he enlisted in the AIF.
Charles embarked on HMAT A63 Karoola on 16th June, 1915 with 6th Reinforcements 4th Batallion. Troops were urgently needed so he received very little training, and he arrived on Gallipoli on 4th August, 1915, three months after enlisting. Just in time to take part in the Lone Pine Battle, Charles was killed on 6th August, 1915 after two days of fighting. He is buried in Lone Pine Cemetery Row N Grave 23.
Charles Fell is commemorated on the Wollongong Congregational Church Roll of Honour.
Charles' brother, George Henry Fell, also served.
