Private Albert David (Service no 38792) was a single 24 year old iron moulder who was working at his father's business in Wollongong when he enlisted.

Albert embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses with 33rd Reinforcements Field Artillery on 19th December, 1917. He saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action on 6th October, 1918. He received shrapnell wounds to his thigh and groin.

Evacuated to hospital for treatment, Albert returned to Australia in December 1918. He was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 29th April, 1919.

In December 1921 he married Elizabeth Scott and they raised quite a large family in Wollongong.
