Robert John Frew
Private Robert Frew (Service no. 2155) was born on 24 July, 1895 in Kurri Kurri, NSW and attended Thirroul Public School. He then gained employment as a miner and at the time of enlistment he was a single 20 year old.
Robert embarked on HMAT A62 Wandilla with 6th Reinforcements 13th Battalion on 14th June, 1915. He arrived in Egypt and after some training was sent to Gallipoli arriving on 2nd August, 1915.
He was involved in the fighting around Hill 60 and was killed in the area known afterwards as Herons Post trench. He has no known grave and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial.
Private Frew is also remembered on the Wollongong Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
