Thomas Harold Cook Cornforth
Sergeant Thomas Cornforth (Service no. 2985) was born in Wollongong on 28th March, 1891 and was a single 26 year old electrical contractor when he enlisted. He embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor on 28th February, 1918 with the Australian Flying Corps November 1917 Reinforcements.
He saw service on the Western Front as an air mechanic and on 1st October was promoted to Sergeant. He returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 4th July, 1919.
In 1922 Thomas married Mary Mortlock in Wollongong and he married a second time in 1936 to Catherine Mooney at Canterbury. He died in 1958.
Thomas Cornforth is remembered on the Wollongong Congregational Church Roll of Honour.
