Samuel Robertson (Service No 2943) was born in Nowra, N.S.W. around 1896.

Samuel was 19 years old when he enlisted, and had 12 months experience with the CMF.  He was single and working as a bank clerk.  Samuel's next of kin, his father, lived in Wilson Street, Wollongong, N.S.W. 

He embarked on HMAT A 8 Argyllshire on 30th September 1915 with 9th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion.

On 13th February 1916, while in Egypt, he was transferred to the 53rd Battalion.  Samuel arrived in France on 25th August 1916.  He was taken On Strength at headquarters of 5th Division and served with them till the end of the war.

Samuel returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 2nd July 1919.

By 1940 he was living in Queensland.

Samuel Robertson is commemorated on the Wollongong Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
