Details:
George Hughes (Service No 862) was born in Gosford, NSW about 1887. When he enlisted he was a single 27 year old railway porter from Corrimal, NSW.
He embarked on HMAT A23 Suffock on 18th October 1914 with H Company, 2nd Battalion and after training in Egypt he sailed for Gallipoli. George survived the early fighting but died a year later in the Lone Pine battle.
He has no known grave and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial.
