Prescott Henry Hunt
Prescott Hunt (Service No 3384) was born in 1896 at Helensburgh, N.S.W., and attended the Church of England School. His father was killed in an accident at Metropolitan Mine in Helensburgh, N.S.W. and his mother had remarried. Prescott was a single 20 year old labourer when he enlisted.
Prescott embarked from Sydney on HMAT A68 Anchises, on 24th January 1917 with 9th Reinforcements, 45th Battalion. He arrived in France on 15th June 1917 and served with 45th Battalion until he was wounded in action on 16th June 1918. He received multiple shrapnel wounds to his arm, shoulder and both legs. Prescott was evacuated for treatment but died of these wounds on 19th June. He is buried in Crouy British Cemetery Plot II, Row D, Grave 17.
Prescott's brother William Herbert Hunt (Service No 950) died during the Gallipoli campaign.
