Albert Allsop (Service No 5781) was born in Auckland New Zealand about 1896. It is not known when he came to Wollongong, NSW but his Army papers have him living in Keira Street, Wollongong. He was a single 20 year old stockman at the time of his enlistment.

He embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic on 7th October 1916 with 19th Battalion, 16th Reinforcements and arrived in France on 13th March 1917. Arthur saw service on the Western Front until he was wounded in action in early April 1918. He was evacuated to hospital on 8th April 1918 for treatment of gun shot wounds to his chest and right arm.

He was returned to Australia in December 1918 and discharged medically unfit on 19th March 1919.
Nothing more is known of him after this time.
