David Cook (Service No 2914) was born around 1879.  On 19th May 1906 he married Hilda Benson.

When he enlisted he was a married 37 year old clerk living in the New South Wales, Wollongong suburb of Mount Ousley.

David embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana on 25th November 1916 with the 35th Battalion, 6th reinforcements.  Training was conducted on the ship.   After arriving in England David was sent to France with the 20th Battalion, arriving in September 1917.

He developed trench foot and was admitted to hospital for treatment.  He was returned to Australia at the end of January 1918 and discharged medically unfit on 15th May 1918.

David is commemorated on the Wollongong Presbyterian Church Roll of Honour.
