Harry William Sutton
Harry Sutton was born about 1894.He spent 3 years in the Cadets and 2 years in the C M F. At the time of enlistment he was a single 21 year old machine worker and clerk. His mother was his next of kin and was residing at Smith's Hill, Wollongong, NSW at the time of his enlistment.
Harry embarked on HMAT A31 Ajana on 31st May 1915 with C Section, 5th Field Ambulance and arrived at Gallipoli on 2nd August 1915. He bacame ill soon after and on 26th September 1915 he was evacuated to hospital. On 24th February 1916 he transferred to 15th Field Ambulance and arrived in France on 28th June 1916. He transferred to 5th Division Motor Transport Company on 1st January 1917 and saw service with them on the Western Front.
Harry was awarded the Military Medal on 19th October 1918 however no date of action or details appear to exist. He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 2nd October 1919. After the war he married Mary Bradley and he died in 1978.
His brother Claude Sutton also served.
