Wentworth Lincoln East
Wentworth East (Service No 2066) was born in 1889 near Shellharbour, NSW and attended Kiama Public School. At the time of enlistment he was a single 27 year old farmer.
Wentworth embarked on HMAT A68 Anchises on 24th August 1916 with 3rd Reinforcements, 35th Battalion. After arriving in England he was posted to C Company and joined them in France on 21st November 1916.
Wentworth was killed in action on 7th June 1917 at the battle of Messines. There is no Red Cross File on his fate and he has no known grave.
His service is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium.

Wentworth East
Wentworth is my husband's pop's cousin. Wentworth was originally buried 100 yards east of over-turned German concrete dug-out 1 1/2 miles WSW of Warneton. That area was later bombed and the original cross placed on the grave was destroyed.
