Henry Burke (Service No 64) was born in Belfast, Ireland. Following the death of her husband, his mother brought the family to Australia. They settled in the Illawarra. At the time of enlistment Henry was a single 20 year old miner from Thirroul, NSW. He had spent time in the Militia in Ireland and the 37th Infantry Militia in Wollongong, NSW.

He embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides on 20th October 1914 with 3rd Battalion. After training in Egypt he sailed for Gallipoli and saw service there. Henry became ill and was evacuated to Egypt (date unknown) and remained there till he sailed with 3rd Battalion to France, arriving on 29th March 1916. He saw service on the Western Front however was killed in action on 3rd November 1916. Henry has no known grave. There is no Red Cross File on his death. He is remembered on the Australian National Memorial at Villers- Bretonneaux.
