Archie Rundle
Archie Rundle was born in Plymouth, Devon England in October 1883. He came to Australia and at the time of enlistment (at Kiama, NSW) was a single 33 year old platelayer at Shellharbour.
He embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 45th Battalion, 6th Reinforcements on 7th October 1916.
Archie was posted to A Company and arrived in France on 18th January 1917. Archie saw service on the Western Front and while involved in the battle for Messines Ridge at about 2 pm on 7 June, 1917 he was hit by a shell and killed instantly.
Archie has no known grave and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres Belgium.
