Arthur Frederick Leeke
Arthur Leeke (Service No 3130) was born in Rozelle, N.S.W. around 1886. Arthur and Florence Kelly married in 1915. When Arthur enlisted he was 29 year old and employed as a fitters labourer in Wollongong, N.S.W. He had served previously in the 21st Infantry Militia for 3 years.
Arthur embarked on HMAT A29 Suevic with the 18th Battalion, 7th Reinforcements on 20th December 1915. After arriving in Egypt he was transferred to the 3rd Battalion on 14th February 1916.
He arrived in France on 28th March 1916 and was involved in the battle of Poziere and killed in action on 24th July 1916.
There is no known grave for Arthur. He is commemorrated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers- Bretonneaux.
