Ambrose Leslie George Travers
Ambrose Travers (Service No 5745) was born in Mount Pleasant, near Wollongong, N.S.W. around 1894. Ambrose's family moved to Gilgandra in northern N.S.W., which is where he was living when he enlisted when he was 21 years old. He was single and working as a farmer at this time.
Ambrose embarked on HMAT A55 Kyarra with 18th Reinforcement, 3rd Battalion on 3rd June 1916. After training in England he arrived in France on 10th November 1916.
Ambrose was fighting in the Bullecourt area, France and was killed on 3rd May 1917.
There is no known grave for Ambrose.
He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux.
