Arthur Cheadle (Service No 58921) was born in Pyrmont, Sydney.

When he enlisted Arthur was 18 years old, single, employed as a wheeler, and lived with his father at Austinmer, N.S.W.  Arthur had previously served 4 years in the cadets.

Arthur embarked on HMAT A30 Borda on 17th July 1918 with the 10th General Service Reinforcements N S W.  He arrived in England on 27th September 1918 and was posted to 3rd Artillery Brigade on 7th October 1918.

He arrived in France on 5th December 1918 and fortunately suffered no injuries in the fighting.

Arthur returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 26th September 1919.

He died in Bulli, N.S.W. in March 1955 and is buried at Woronora, N.S.W.

Arthur's service is commemorated on the Austinmer War Memorial.
