John Reddan (Service No 2463) was born in Wollongong in 1894. At the time of enlistment he was a single 21 year old farmer who had served in the Militia. He embarked on HMAT A67 Orsova with 7th Reinforcements, 2nd Battalion on 14th July 1915. It is unclear if John served on Gallipoli as the first entry on his file states he joined the 2nd Battalion in Egypt on 9th February 1916.

John went to France with them arriving on 28th March 1916 and was later transferred to 54th Battalion. John was with the 54th Battalion when he was wounded in action on 23rd July 1916 and was admitted to 1st Field Ambulance for treatment of wounds to his legs, foot, back and left side. On 25th July 1916 he was transferred to 23rd General Hospital in France. John did not recover and died from his wounds on 4th August 1916.

He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery Plot IX, Row C, Grave 5a.
