Henry Warren
Henry Warren (Service No 5263) was born in Albion Park, NSW about 1897. At the time of enlistment he was a single 18 year old labourer who had served 3 years in the Senior Cadets and the 37th Infantry Militia. He enlisted as one of the Waratahs. Henry embarked on S S Makarini with 16th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion on 1st April 1916 arriving in Egypt on 2nd May 1916. On 18th June he was taken on strength of 1st battalion in France.
Soon after Henry was involved in the fighting at Poziere and was killed in action between 22nd and 25th July 1916. He was buried at the site but his grave was lost. Henry is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux.
