Joseph Ronson
Joseph Ronson (Service No 3204) was born in Wollongong, NSW about 1893, one of three brothers to enlist. At the time of enlistment he was a single 22 year old labourer.
He embarked on HMAT A50 Itonus from Brisbane with 7th Reinforcements, 25th Battalion on 30th December 1915. His brother Robert (Service No 3203) was on board with him having enlisted the same day. Joseph arrived in Egypt on 21st March 1916 and then went on to France with 25th Battalion on 2nd May 1916.
On 29th July 1916 Joseph was last seen charging the German trenches at Poziere. He was killed in action and has no known grave. Joseph is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux.
Josephs brother Robert returned to Australia after the war, however his brother William (Service No 3102) died in the fighting at Fromelle.
