Edward Peter Murphy
Edward Murphy (Service No 3875) was born in Keiraville, N.S.W. around 1890. He attended the Catholic school at Wollongong, N.S.W. as a child.
When Edward enlisted he was 25 years old, single, and worked as a labourer.
He embarked on HMAT A54 Runic with 9th Reinforcements, 17th Battalion on 20th January 1916. The troops arrived in Egypt on 26th February 1916 and Edward was then transferred to 55th Battalion in Egypt on 20th April 1916.
Edward was sent on to France with B Company, 55th Battalion, arriving on 29th June 1916. Edward took part in the battle of Fromelle, and was killed in action on 20th July.
He is buried in Rue Petillion Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, France: Plot I, Row K, Grave 10.
