Gordon Leslie Cameron Allen
Gordon Allen (Service No 7436) was born in Grafton, N.S.W. around 1896.
He enlisted when he was 21 years old, working as a labourer, and living with his sister in Wollongong, N.S.W.
Gordon embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides with the 4th Battalion, 25th Reinforcements on 31st October 1917, and arrived in England on 26th December 1917. He was admitted to hospital in England on 22nd January 1918 suffering from the mumps.
Gordon arrived in France on 1st April 1918 and joined the 4th Battalion, 11 Platoon, C Company on 25th April 1918. At about midnight on 10th July 1918 he was involved in an attack when he was hit by pieces of shell and killed instantly.
There is no known grave for Gordon.
He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux, France.

Family
Gordon is or was my Grandfather’s Younger brother. I only just found out about him which is a shame as I have been to Villers Bretonneaux and visited to War cemetery. If only I had known I could have paid my respect to him .
