Frederick William Watson
Frederick Watson (Service No 479) was born in London in January 1896. By 1916 Frederick was living in Australia.
Frederick enlisted when he was 20 years old; he was single and working as a farm hand in the Albion Park/ Shellharbour region of N.S.W. At that time both his parents were deceased and he had no guardian.
Frederick embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire with 3rd Reinforcement, Anzac Cyclist Battalion on 22nd August 1916. He arrived in England on 12th October 1916. After training in England he joined 4th Battalion on 17th January 1917 and was sent to France on 23rd March 1917.
Frederick was killed in action on 18th April 1917. There is no known grave for Frederick.
He is commemmorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
