William Robertson (Service No 4516) was in Newcastle, N.S.W. around 1882.

William enlisted at the age of 32 when he was working as a coal miner, and living at Helensburgh, N.S.W.  William named his sister, Mary Robertson, as his next of kin.

He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A71 Nestor with 11th Reinforcements 19th Battalion on 9th April 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 7th June 1916 and were sent on to France on 26th September 1916.

William was killed in action on 15th November 1916, and had no known grave.

He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux, France.
