Harry Westbrook Davis
Harry Davis (Service No 1608) was born in Berry, N.S.W. in January 1887.
When Harry enlisted he was single, 27 years, and worked as a farmer at Berry. He had served 8 months in the Militia.
Harry embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A34 Persic with 12th Reinforcements, 6th Light Horse, on 18th November 1915.
On 8th January, 1916, while in Egypt, Harry was admitted to hospital, having contracted the mumps.
Harry joined B Squadron on 30th January 1916 and served in the Middle East. Harry was wounded on 29th March 1918 while fighting in Jordan. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment of serious gun shot wounds to the thigh and a number of fractures.
He was returned to Australia in July 1918m and discharged medically unfit on 4th September 1918.
On 10th April 1918 Harry was awarded with the Military Medal for Bravery in the Field - no other details supplied on military papers.
In 1928 Harry married Edith Bird at Griffith, N.S.W.
Harry died in Sydney in 1983, age 97.
