Hubert Parry was born in Leasowe, England, around 1897 and attended Llandudus Junction School in Wales.  Hubert's family later emigrated to Australia, and in 1916 the family was living at Corrimal, N.S.W.

Hubert enlisted in Wollongong when he was 19 years old; he was single, and working as a coal miner.

Hubert embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A72 Beltana with 23rd Reinforcements, 13th Battalion, on 25th November 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 29th January 1917.  After further training Hubert was sent to France, joining the 13th Battalion on 7th May 1917.

Hubert was killed in action soon after, on 23rd August 1917, while fighting at Messines. There is no known grave; he is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium.
