John Joseph Pattinson
John Pattinson (Service No 5159) was born in England around 1894.
John enlisted when he was 22 years old and living in Corrimal, N.S.W. He was single and worked as a coal miner.
John embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A16 Star of Victoria with 16th Reinforcements, 13th Battalion on 31st March 1916. After arriving in Egypt, John was sent to France to join 4th Division Headquarters, arriving on 8th June 1916.
Initially thought to be wounded & missing, it was later established that John had been killed during fighting on 30th August 1916.
He is buried in Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, France: Plot VII, Row L, Grave 11.
John's brother Robert also served.
