Archibald Oliver (Service No 2700) was born in Glasgow, Scotland, around 1888.  He had served 4 years and 6 months with 7th Scottish Rifles Territorials.

When Archibald enlisted at Kiama, N.S.W., at the age of 29, he was single, living at 'Lewarra', Dunmore, via Shellharbour, N.S.W and working as a labourer.

He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A24 Benalla with 5th Reinforcements, 37th Battalion, on 9th November 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 9th January 1917 and Archibald joined the 37th Battalion in France on 8th May 1917.

On 7th June 1917 Archibald received a gun shot wound to his right foot, but this was a minor wound and he was back with his unit by 15th June.

Archibald was killed in action on 14th July 1917, while fighting the same campaign.

There is no known grave for Archibald; he is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium.
