Lachlan Macpherson (Service No 7017) was born in Condoblin, N.S.W. in May 1899.  He came from a military background, and was one of four brothers who enlisted. 

When Lachlan enlisted he was single, 18 years old, and working as a bank clerk with the Commercial Bank at Wollongong.

He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A38 Ulysses with 21st Reinforcements, on 19th December 1917. The troops arrived in England on 13th February 1918 and Lachlan joined 18th Battalion in France on 12th May 1918.

Lachlan served on the Western Front until 29th August 1918 when he was killed in action during the Australian push at Peronne and Mont St Quentin.

He is buried in Hebecourt British Cemetery, France: Row C, Grave 6.
