Robert William Scott
Robert Scott (Service No 1917) was born around 1895 in Balgownie, N.S.W..
When he enlisted, Robert was 21 years old, single, and employed as an engineer. Before enlisting, Robert had served with D Company, 37th Infantry with the CMF.
He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A40 Ceramic with 2nd Reinforcements, 1st Pioneer Battalion on 14th April 1916.
The troops arrived in England on 11th June 1916 and Robert was sent on to France, arriving on 17th November 1916.
Robert fought on the Western Front for the next 18 months with no reported injuries. On 3rd June 1918 Robert was killed in action. His military files have no details about his death and there appears to be no Red Cross file for him.
Robert has no known grave; his service commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneaux, France & on the Balgownie Presbyterian Church Honour Roll.
