Jesse Stevenson
Jesse Stevenson (Service No 5735) was born in Nottingham, England, and had served with 8th Battalion, Sherwood Forresters, before coming to Australia.
When Jesse enlisted at the age of 23, he lived at Bellambi, N.S.W., was single, and employed as a wheeler.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A55 Kyarra with 18th Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion 3rd June 1916 and the troops arrived in England on 3rd August 1916.
Jesse was sent on to Belgium on 6th October where he joined the 3rd Battalion. Shortly after, on 17th October he was admitted to hospital sick, but returned to his unit on 27th October 1916.
Jesse served on the Western Front until he was killed in action on 28th December 1916. There are no recorded details of Jesse's death on file.
He is buried in Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France; Plot I, Row B, Grave 31.
