William Henry Hamilton
William Hamilton (Service No 4945) was born around 1897 in Northumberland, England.
When William enlisted he was 19 years old, single, employed as a wheeler, and lived at Scarborough, N.S.W.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A15 Star of England with 15th Reinforcements, 2nd Battalion on 8th March 1916. After arriving in Egypt William was transferred to 57th Battalion which was then sent on to France.
The troops arrived on 24th June 1916. William saw brief service at Pozieres, France, where on 27th August 1916, he was killed in action.
William is buried in Rue-Du-Bois Military Cemetery, Fleubaix, France; Plot I, Row G, Grave 28.
