Michael Reen (Service No 6540) was born in Dapto, N.S.W. in 1882.

When Michael enlisted at the age of 33, he was single, worked as a pipe layer, and resided at Marshall Mount, near Dapto, N.S.W. 

Michael embarked on from Sydney HMAT A60 Aeneas with 21st Reinforcements, 4th Battalion on 30th September 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 19th November 1916 and after training Michael joined the 4th Battalion in France on 1st April 1917. 

On 15th April 1917, while fighting at Lagnicourt in northern France Michae was severely wounded and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of gun shot wounds to his neck and shoulder.  As a result of his wounds, Michael was returned to Australia on 16th December 1917, and  discharged medically unfit on 23rd January 1918.

Michael Reen does not appear to have married, and he died in Sydney in 1948.

His name is listed on the Marshall Mount School Honour Rolls.
