Thomas Osborne (Service No 7164) was born in Wollongong, NSW and at the time of enlistment was a single 37 year old farm labourer from Unanderra.

Thomas embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses with 21st Reinforcements, 18th Battalion on 19th December, 1917. He spent most of the trip in the ships hospital suffering from measles and influenza.

Thomas arrived in Egypt on 16th January, 1918 and went on to England, arriving there on 13th February, 1918. It was soon apparent he should never have been allowed to enlist as he was deemed medically unfit due to an old injury to his right thigh.

Thomas was returned to Australia in May, 1918 and discharged medically unfit on 6th August, 1918. He died in Wollongong in 1951.
