Cyril Ingle
Cyril Ingle (Service No 788) was born in Rylstone, N.S.W.
He enlisted when he was 28 years old, single, employed as a, and lived at the Tattersalls Hotel in Wollongong, N.S.W.
Cyril embarked from Sydney on HMAT A6 Clan Mccorquodale with 3rd Reinforcements, 6th Light Horse Regiment on 6th February 1915. The troops arrived in Egypt, soon after which they were sent to Gallipoli, arriving on 15th May 1915.
Cyril saw service until 28th July 1915 when he was evacuated to hospital on the Greek island of Mudros with influenza. He returned to Gallipoli on 29th September 1915. On 14th November 1915 he was admitted to hospital on Gallipoli and transferred to Egypt suffering from deafness. Cyril's file does not indicate if this was caused by his active service or a pre existing condition. He rejoined his unit on 21st March 1916 but was back in hospital on 3rd May 1916.
Cyril was returned to Australia in June 1916 and discharged medically unfit due to deafness on 5th September 1916.
On 27th December 1916 he married Maud Irene Wheeldon in Goulburn, N.S.W. and the family moved around for some years.
Cyril died in Sydney in 1960.
