Aubrey Goodman was born in Geraldton W A.  As a young man, Aubrey travelled to Sydney and studied for the priesthood with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Australia.  Father Goodman then worked for the Sacred Heart Community, spending a lot of time in Tasmania.

In April 1915 Fr Goodman was in Wollongong on Mission duties holding services at St Francis Xavier Cathedral, Wollongong.  An article in the paper records he held a successful service at St Clements, Mount Kembla where he heard 210 confessions.  It was while in Wollongong that Fr Goodman enlisted, at the age of 38.

He embarked on HMAT A47 Mashobra on 4th October 1915 and arrived at Gallipoli on 8th November 1915.  

After the evacuation of Gallipole Fr Goodman was returned to Egypt  where he spent time as a hospital chaplain.  On 12th August 1916 he was admitted to hospital for treatment from Scorpion bites.  After he recovered he was posted as Chaplain to 10th Light Horse, joining them on the front line.

On 12th April 1917 Father Goodman was wounded in action and admitted to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his left foot.  

On 20th September 1917 he was promoted to Chaplain 3rd Class.

He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 12th September 1919. He returned to his parish duties and died in 1956.
