William Peacock (Service No 6582) was born in Newcastle in 1888. At the time of enlistment, he was a married 28 year old miner from Clifton. In 1914 William had married Bertha Walbrock.

William embarked on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 21st Reinforcements, 13th Battalion on 7th October, 1916. He arrived in England on 21st November,1916 and joined 13th Battalion in France 2 months later on 21st January,1917.

William saw service on the Western Front until 4th February, 1917 when he was wounded in action. He was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a severe gun shot wound to his abdomen.

After almost a year in hospital, William was returned to Australia in January,1918 and discharged medically unfit on 30th May, 1918. He died at Petersham in 1954.
