David Nicholson (Service No 7517) was born in Young, N.S.W. around 1893.

On 7th February 1914 David married Kathleen Ryan in Wollongong, N.S.W.

At enlistment he was 24 years old, lived in Wollongong, N.S.W. with his wife and their child, and was employed as a clerk.  David had served 12 months in the Militia.  

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A14 Euripides with 25th Reinforcements, 4th Battalion, on 31st October 1917.  The troops arrived in England on 26th December 1917.

On 23rd January 1918, David was admitted to hospital suffering from appendicitis.  He finally joined B Company, 4th battalion in France on 24th June 1918.

David was transferred to 45th Battalion on 5th July 1918 and saw service on the Western Front.

On 10th August 1918 he was evacuated to hospital in England suffering from concussion.

David was returned to Australia in January 1919 and received further treatment in hospital in Australia.

He was discharged medically unfit with chronic nephritis on 5th January 1920.

David died soon after, in 1922.
