Thomas Sargent (Service No 3376) was born in Mount Morgan, Qld around 1892.

At enlistment Thomas was single, 24 years old, worked as a miner and lived at Port Kembla, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A69 Warialda with No 4 Tunnel Company, No 1 Military District, on 22nd May 1916. The troops arrived in England on 18th July 1916 and Thomas joined 1st Tunnel Company in France on 30th September 1916.

On 11th January 1917 he was admitted to hospital in France with bronchitis and returned to his unit on 27th January 1917.

On 18th February 1917 he was admitted to hospital in England and found to be suffering from Tuberculosis.

Thomas saw service on the Western Front until 29th October 1918 when he was wounded, receiving a bomb wound to his hand during an enemy air raid.

He was returned to Australia in April 1919 and discharged medically unfit on 9th October 1919.

Thomas died in 1933 and is buried in Botany Cemetery, Sydney.
