Ernest Tibbetts (Service No 7109) was born in Clifton, N.S.W.

At enlistment Ernest was single, 25 years old, worked as an engineer with the PMG, and lived at Corrimal, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A34 Persic with 5th Artillery Brigade Headquarters on 18th November 1915.  The troops arrived in Egypt on 21st December 1915 and Ernest was sent on to France on 28th March 1916.

He saw service on the Western Front with the Artillery until being transferred to the Army Wireless Section in France on 15th November 1916.

On 24th January 1917 he was admitted to hospital with bronchitis.  After he returned to his unit Ernest served until 12th September 1918 when he was again admitted to hospital sick, at which time he was diagnosed as being deaf.

He was invalided back to Australia in November 1918 and discharged medically unfit on 23rd March 1919.

On 8th October 1921 he married Alma Hill at Ryde, N.S.W.

Ernest died in 1968 and is buried in Northern Suburbs Cemetery, Sydney.
