Stanley Eades (Service No 6194) was born in Sydney.

In 1914 he married Ruby Hart but they had separated by the time he enlisted.

At enlistment Stanley was 24 years old, worked as a printer, and lived at Woonona, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A11 Ascanius with 17th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion on 25th October 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 28th December 1916 and Stanley joined 19th Battalion in France on 28th February 1917.

On 17th April 1917 he was admitted to hospital in France sick and rejoined his unit on 9th May 1917.

Stanley saw service on the Western Front until he was admitted to hospital wounded on 28th October 1917.  The terrible conditions at Passchendaele resulted in his being evacuated to England with shell shock.

Stanley was returned to Australia in February 1918 and after further hospital treatment in Australia was finally discharged medically unfit on 1st October 1918.

In 1919 he and his wife divorced and he later married Doris Patterson in Manly in 1926.

On 1st April 1942 he enlisted with 10th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps and was discharged holding the rank of Corporal on 18th July 1943.

Stanley died in Sydney in 1970.
