George Farr (Service No 569) was born in Wiltshire, England around 1870.

At enlistment George was 45 years old, married, worked as a shoeing smith and lived at Thirroul, N.S.W.  George listed his wife, Sarah Elizabeth, as his next of kin.  On his enlistment papers George declared that he was an Imperial Pensioner, indicating previous military service.

He embarked for Egypt and on 9th February 1916 was admitted to hospital suffering from bronchitis.  George was posted to the 6th Veterinary Section in Egypt on 7th March 1916 and saw service in the Middle East.

On 14th October 1916 he was admitted to hospital sick but returned to his unit soon after, on 30th October.

On 4th July 1917 he was admitted to hospital suffering from malaria.

In September 1917 George was returned to Australia and discharged from the AIF, medically unfit, due to malaria and debility on 14th November 1917.

George's service is commemorated on the Thirroul Woodward Memorial Park.
