Luthor Stephens (Service No 3468) was born in Tennessee, USA around 1890 and appears to have arrived in Australia about 1915.
At enlistment Luther was single, 27 years old, worked as a navvy (labourer), and lived at Thirroul, N.S.W.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A68 Anchises with 9th Reinforcements, 53rd Battalion, on 24th January 1917.
Luther arrived in England on 27th March 1917 but did not see active service. He was admitted to hospital in England after being found wandering and confused.
He was returned to Australia in September 1917 and discharged medically unfit due to mental issues on 6th May 1918.
