Gustaf Dahlstrom was born in Gotherberg, Sweden around 1891.

Gustaf had served in the Royal Swedish Navy before he came to Australia.

At enlistment, Gustaf was single, 23 years old, worked as a motor driver, and lived at Woonona, N.S.W.  His nex-of-kin was C L Dahlstrom of Woonona.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A14 Euripides with G Company, 3rd Battalion, on 20th October 1914 and arrived in Egypt with the first contingent.  He arrived on Gallipoli early on 25th April and was wounded in action sometime between 25th and 30th April and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right shoulder.  He returned to 3rd Battalion on Gallipoli on 16th August 1915 but became ill shortly after and was admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance on 21st August 1915.

Gustaf was sent to 1st Casualty Clearing Station and then back to hospital in England with a septic throat and pyrexia in November 1915.

In March 1916 he was returned to Australia and discharged medically unfit on 27th July 1916 due to shell shock.

Gustaf died in Victoria in 1964 and is buried in the Springvale Cemetery.
