John Seery (Service No 4775) was born in London.

At enlistment John was single, 28 years old, employed as an electric mechanic, and lived at Woonona, N.S.W.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 12th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion on 13th April 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 7th June 1916 and John joined 19th Battalion in France on 26th September 1916.

On 12th November 1916 he was admitted to hospital in England for treatment of trench feet and did not return to his unit in Belgium until 13th October 1917.

On 24th July 1918 John was wounded a second time, this time, in a gas attack and admitted to hospital for treatment.  He returned to his unit on 6th September 1918.

On 11th October 1918 he was transferred to 20th Battalion.

John was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged on 25th October 1919.

He does not appear to have married and died at Concord in 1965.

John's service is commemorated on the Bulli-Woonona War Memorial.
