William Joseph Moss
William Moss (Service No 2708) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W. He was single, 28 years old and an engine fitter, when he enlisted. William had served 11 months in the cadets.
He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A14 Euripides with 6th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion on 2nd November 1915.
After arriving in Egypt, William was transferred to the Army Medical Corps on 19th April 1916. He arrived in France on 30th May 1916 as a Lance Corporal, having been promoted on 25th May 1916.
On 19th September 1916 he was attached to the 4th Battalion as a medic and saw service on the Western Front.
William was wounded in action on 6th May 1917 and was admitted to hospital for treatment for shrapnel wounds to his thigh.
On 8th February 1919 he married Jane Willis in England before returning to Australia in July 1919.
William was discharged on 18th October 1919. He died in Wollongong in 1962.
