Henry Moss (Service No 2221) was born in Mossgiel, N.S.W., in 1891.

At enlistment, he was single, 24 years old, worked as a shearer and lived at Bulli. Henry listed his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Moss, of Bulli, as his next of kin. 

Henry embarked on HMAT A26 Armadale, with 1st Light Horse Regiment, 15th Reinforcement, on 21st March 1916.

On arrival in Egypt, he was transferred to 4th Pioneers on 18th May 1916. Henry arrived in France on 11th June 1916, and served with the Pioneers on the Western Front until 4th June 1917. On 14th November 1916, whilst serving with the Pioneers, Henry was promoted to Lance Corporal.

On 7th June 1917, whilst fighting at Messines, France, he was wounded in action. Henry was evacuated to a hospital in England, for treatment of a severe gun shot wound to his left elbow and was deemed unfit for further active service.

He returned to Australia, on 25th Novenber 1917, and was discharged medically unfit, on 2nd March 1918.
